There are many things to consider when trying out close up photography. Some include

Tips

  1. Find your light
  2. Focus is the key
  3. Keep steady
  4. Don’t get too close
  5. Be simple
  6. Composition
  7. Try different angles

Other ideas to include:

  • What is your perspective and the perspective you’re taking the photo from?
  • Try zooming in from 1x to 2x
  • Focus on one detail

I used these ideas in photographing a flower. This is what I got:

I found the minimum distance that I could be to the flower and took the picture.
After finding the minimum distance, I zoomed in 2x and captured this.

I think that by using this style of photography, it can be super unique and artistic. I hope to continue to play around with this in the future.

NEXT UP:

With additional resources, you could try macro photography. This requires an additional lens to attach to the phone to get even closer to the subject. Some new phones do have the feature built in. iPhone’s 13 pro and up have this feature and a description on how to use it can be found here: https://support.apple.com/en-ca/guide/iphone/iphfaacf2eb0/ios
