This week, I decided to look at how to take better portrait pictures on my iPhone.

The Apple support website was quite useful to discovering what features are available on my phone (https://support.apple.com/en-ca/guide/iphone/iphd7d3a91a2/ios).

First of all, I selected portrait mode on my phone. From there I chose which lighting effect suited my photo (descriptions about each setting does can be found on the link above).

From here, additional settings can be adjusted to alter how blurry the background is, the lighting, adding a filter, or manipulating the exposure.

Considerations when taking a portrait include background, framing, lighting, the rule of thirds, the subjects clothing color of choice, focus on the eyes, and consider perspectives and the use of props.
